New dashboard web part in SharePoint and Teams

Microsoft has recently released an update that may be of interest to those working with SharePoint and Teams. There is now a new dashboard web part that enables you to collect and display information in a clearer and more interactive way directly on your SharePoint pages and in Teams.

Greater flexibility for Teams and Communication Sites

Previously, the dashboard web part was only available for Home Sites in SharePoint, but it has now been rolled out to both Teams and Communication Sites. This means that more groups and departments can create their own dashboards, tailored to their specific needs. Using so-called cards, you can quickly build an overview with relevant information, and there are both pre-made and customizable cards to choose from.

Support for custom and pre-built cards

In addition to the built-in options, you can use custom cards created with Card Designer or SharePoint Framework. If you have already created custom cards for SharePoint, you do not need to make any changes to use them in the dashboard web part—they will automatically become available once the feature is activated.

Rollout and availability

The feature is currently being rolled out globally and will gradually become available to all users by the end of May 2025. No special action is required to get started—the dashboard web part will appear automatically when it becomes available in your environment.
