Microsoft has launched a new template gallery for SharePoint, which can make it easier for many organizations to create attractive and informative pages and news posts without having to start from scratch each time. The feature is now available to commercial customers and will be rolled out globally during September.
What does the new template gallery mean?
With the new template gallery, all available templates are gathered in one place. Here you will find both templates that already exist on your own site and templates developed by Microsoft. This makes it easier and faster to find the right foundation for new pages, whether you work in HR, project management, or communications.
You can choose from modern, pre-designed templates for both pages and news posts. For example, an HR department can quickly create a page about employee benefits by starting from a template, or a project manager can use a ready-made template to share product news with their team.
How does it work in practice?
When you create a new page or news post in SharePoint, the template gallery opens automatically. There, a selection of templates tailored for different types of content is displayed. You select a template, customize the content, and publish—without having to spend time on design from scratch. The templates can also be accessed via the homepage of your SharePoint site, through the left navigation, or directly in the news web part.
Integration with Microsoft Teams
For organizations using SharePoint together with Microsoft Teams, the template gallery provides a smoother process for creating and sharing information. Since Teams is often the hub for collaboration, it becomes easier to quickly produce and publish material that can be shared further in Teams channels or feeds.
Upcoming updates and availability
The rollout of the new template gallery began at the end of August and is expected to be completed by mid-September. Microsoft has also announced more updates ahead, such as templates for video and improved support for Amplify.
