Microsoft has recently launched a new status panel in SharePoint that provides a clearer overview when using the autofill columns and document translation features. For those who work extensively with document management in SharePoint and collaborate in Microsoft Teams, this can simplify tracking during AI-based file processing.
Better Real-Time Monitoring of Processing
The new panel displays in real time whether your documents are being processed, completed, or if an error has occurred. You can open the panel directly from the command bar or via the context menu, making it easier to follow the process. It is also possible to filter for failed processing tasks or view history going back up to 60 days, which can save time when you need to identify and resolve issues.
Expanded File Support for Document Translation
Another new development is that SharePoint now supports an additional 13 file formats for document translation, including XLIFF. This opens up new opportunities for those working with, for example, e-learning or software localization, as you can now translate these files directly in SharePoint without needing to convert them or use external tools.
Transition from Status Column to New Panel
Please note that the new status panel replaces the previous status column, which is now hidden by default and will be phased out over time. This means a change in how you track processing status, but the panel provides a more consolidated and up-to-date view of what is happening in the library.
Free Trial Period Remains
If you have enabled pay-as-you-go billing, you can continue to test certain SharePoint content processing services at no extra cost until December 2025. However, this does not apply to Microsoft 365 Archive or Backup.
